My Boyfriend (Fiance) The SmartyPants

Congratulations to Reto, who has just passed the bar exam! No more studying, no more whinging, no more procrastinating, no more unemployment*!

* Unless you count the next 3 months, of course, with regards to unemployment. And there will probably be some wedding-associated whinging and procrastinating, too. Definitely no studying, though!

if swiss bar exams are anything like those in oz or the US, then that is certainly a commendable achievement!

The bar exam here seems to be waaaaaaaaay more of an ordeal than what I know of the Australian version. What Reto did (and as far as I know it was totally typical) was finish working at his previous job in the middle of May, start studying at the beginning of June (theoretically all day every day), cough up the $2000 for the privilege of doing the exams, and then in October spend 4 solid days in a row (8am-5pm) doing written exams. 6 weeks later he found out if he had passed or not (which about 50% of people usually do, I gather, at least in Aargau) and since he did he had to spend another few weeks (although in reality he was much slacker than that) studying for the oral exam, which was an hour or so of being grilled by experts of some sort. Apparently no one really fails the oral exam, but that doesn't mean everyone isn't a bit scared of it.
Well done,I say.
